Town of Colonie, Albany County, New York
Creighton Manning provided traffic engineering, highway design, permitting and regulatory approvals, and construction inspection services for the construction of a 17,000 square foot ALDI supermarket on Central Avenue (NY Route 5) in the Town of Colonie. Central Avenue is a five-lane, urban principal arterial providing east-west travel through Albany County serving approximately 25,500 vehicles per day. To facilitate the safe and efficient movement of traffic generated by the new supermarket, off-site improvements were made including a new traffic signal, exclusive left-turn lanes on Central Avenue, and pedestrian accommodations. A highway work permit was required from the New York State Department of Transportation to construct the improvements. The project also included coordination with CDTA to relocate the existing eastbound and westbound bus stops in the vicinity of the driveway intersection.
