Project Description

CP Rail over Maxon Road Bridge Replacement

City of Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York

Creighton Manning provided foundation design, field survey and mapping, alternatives analysis, permitting, overhead and underground utility relocation coordination, and construction observation for the replacement CP Rail over Maxon Road Bridge, a 56 ft span steel through-girder Railroad Bridge built in 1904. The bridge is located across from a key access area to future development in the City of Schenectady. Design challenges included overhead utilities and proximity of adjacent structures conflicting with large crane operations. Bracing was designed to resist all lateral load, any eccentric loading encountered during construction, and provide stability. All work performed while maintaining train traffic by working between train schedules.

Services provided by Creighton Manning included:

  • Foundation design
  • Field survey and mapping
  • Alternatives analysis
  • Permitting
  • Overhead and underground utility relocation coordination
  • Construction observation
