Round Lake Road Reconstruction
Town of Malta, Saratoga County, New York
The Round Lake Road Traffic and Mobility Improvements (PIN 1757.54) is a roadway reconstruction project that includes multi-modal facilities as well as capacity and safety improvements at two intersections. The Round Lake Road Sidewalks project (PIN 1759.60) is part of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program and consists of a sidewalk connection along Round Lake Road. The project sponsor, Town of Malta, progressed both projects under one contract.
The scope of work involves design for roadway reconstruction to address deficiencies in the multi-modal transportation network on Round Lake Road (CR 80). The project includes acquisition of private property, development of intersection alternatives including traffic signals and single-lane roundabouts, an extensive public involvement campaign including a steering committee, public meetings, and a website, and construction inspection services. The improvements include two single-lane roundabouts and sidewalks with rapid-flash beacons used on major crosswalks to provide additional visibility to pedestrians.
The project received the APWA Capital Branch 2015 Project of the Year in the Transportation Category.
