Project Description

Delaware Avenue Complete Streets Feasibility Study

Town of Bethlehem, Albany County, New York

Delaware Avenue Complete StreetsCreighton Manning completed a comprehensive planning study with significant public involvement to analyze the feasibility of various complete streets alternatives for the section of Delaware Avenue from Elsmere Avenue to the Normanskill Bridge in the Town of Bethlehem. The study considered the feasibility of reducing the number of travel lanes on the busy corridor from 4 lanes to 3 – also known as a “road diet.” The study identified the road diet as feasible, documented complete streets enhancements including improved pedestrian and bicyclist accommodations, and developed an implementation plan. A Town Board Resolution approved the study, enabling immediate progress toward funding and implementation.
