Project Description
Fire Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements
City of Glens Falls, Warren County, New York
Creighton Manning was responsible for the design, public involvement, and construction inspection for this locally administered federal aid project to construct 1,300 feet of sidewalk and 2,300 feet of trail near Fire Road in the City of Glens Falls. Safety features included a raised crosswalk to facilitate a mid-block crossing between the YMCA and park, and flashing beacons at Kensington Road School. The alignment of the trail was developed to minimize the impact on forested areas. The project required coordination between the local YMCA, City and the School District. An “Agreement to Occupy Public Land” was coordinated between the school and City to avoid the purchase right-of-way, which kept the project on schedule and avoided additional costs.
