Town of Brunswick, Rensselaer County, New York

This MPO study evaluated Hoosick Road, a regional corridor serving both local traffic and interstate freight, with daily volumes exceeding 25,000 vehicles in some sections. Based on analysis of existing and projected conditions and robust public engagement, recommendations were developed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and enhance multi-modal mobility. Key strategies included traffic signal optimization, access management, land use adjustments, and neighborhood traffic calming measures.

  • Inventory and analysis of existing transportation infrastructure and travel patterns
  • Traffic volume forecasting and modeling
  • Public engagement, including two online workshops with over 1,000 participants
  • Development of corridor improvement concepts and recommendations
  • Preparation of final report and presentation to the Town Board
