The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has operational control of New York’s power grid. In 2011, government officials and energy industry leaders developed a smart grid initiative. Supported by a federal Energy Smart Grid Investment Grant, NYISO expanded their company headquarters in Rensselaer County. Creighton Manning was the civil engineer of record for design of the new $35.5 million, 64,600 SF primary power control center – the nation’s most technologically advanced grid operations facility. Creighton Manning provided civil engineering, site design, survey, storm water pollution prevention plan design and inspections, site plan approvals and agency permitting.
