Project Description

NYSDOT Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP)

PSAP was a five-year, multi-agency initiative that provides $110 million to improve safety for pedestrians through infrastructure improvements, public education efforts and enforcement across Upstate New York and Long Island. The NYSDOT term agreement provided technical expertise and engineering support to implement the PSAP. Creighton Manning was a part of a team responsible for addressing the risk factors that contribute to over 300 pedestrians per year being killed in New York State. Creighton Manning designed $6.9 million in improvements at over 260 signalized intersections and 130 unsignalized or uncontrolled locations to enhance pedestrian safety. The PSAP project was honored by APWA Capital Branch as the 2021 Project of the Year in the Transportation category ($5 million to $25 million).
