City of Albany, Albany County, New York

This NYSDOT Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) study evaluated the Interstate 787 Corridor to explore major transportation infrastructure changes and improve connections between the City of Albany and the Hudson River waterfront. The study focused on CP Rail facility operations, I-787/ Dunn Memorial Bridge/South Mall Expressway reconfiguration, Albany Inner Harbor Marina/Historic District development concepts, and other access opportunities. Alternatives analyzed included replacing I-787 with a boulevard or covering it to enhance waterfront access. The project also included environmental studies and extensive public and stakeholder engagement.
