Project Description
Schenectady Intermodal Station
City of Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York
The Schenectady Intermodal Station is located adjacent to State Street and Erie Boulevard in historic downtown Schenectady. The 4,500 SF facility consists of a two-level Station adjacent to an existing viaduct carrying the Amtrak passenger service and CSX freight traffic. CDTA worked with the City and neighborhood groups to secure a design that reflected the historic setting and original Union Station building. During the initial phase of the project, Creighton Manning was responsible for the traffic and pedestrian circulation study as well as a parking study, analyzing the traffic impacts of the project, assessing environmental effects, developing recommendations for improved access and vehicular circulation, and making recommendations for improvements to accommodate transit and pedestrian access. More recently, Creighton Manning was a subconsultant to the architect responsible for final design of the station. In this role, Creighton Manning provided civil engineering services, design of the temporary station and main station parking lot including on-site parking and vehicle circulation, design of stormwater infrastructure, detailed survey and mapping, and improvements to utilities.
