South Troy Industrial Park Road
City of Troy, Rensselaer County, NY
This project aimed to promote business growth in the South Troy area while alleviating commercial truck traffic from residential neighborhoods. The development of South Troy Industrial Park Road, also known as River Street, included a phased construction approach, beginning with the southern section.
The comprehensive scope of work featured highway design, bridge design, ADA-compliant sidewalks, a new water main, and complex right-of-way (ROW) acquisitions that involved partial building removal and condemnations. The project also necessitated coordination with CSX Railroad for work within their right-of-way, ensuring regulatory compliance and seamless integration with the rail network.
Our Contributions:
Creighton Manning was responsible for survey and mapping, preparing all preliminary and final design plans, environmental permitting, and construction inspection. The firm also conducted traffic analysis and micro-simulation modeling, developed the design approval document, and ensured context-sensitive roadway design. Public participation was an integral part of the process, along with coordination with the City, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants. Additionally, Creighton Manning managed all aspects of ROW acquisitions.
This project won an ACEC New York Engineering Excellence Gold Award.
