Project Description

Washington Avenue/Patroon Creek Corridor Study

City of Albany, Albany County, New York

Washington Patroon Corridor StudyCreighton Manning was the prime consultant for the study responsible for analyzing the feasibility of various complete streets elements for the Washington Avenue corridor between I-90 Interchange 2 and Brevator Street in the City of Albany. This study was proposed by the City of Albany, in collaboration with the University at Albany, to make safety improvements after the posted speed limit in the area was reduced. The study evaluated existing multi-modal conditions and three alternatives to recommend the most feasible and context appropriate complete streets design for this corridor.  A robust stakeholder and community driven process was used throughout the study and during development of the recommendations. The City and its partners were provided with detailed illustrations and cost estimates of three complete design concepts. The proposed recommendations support the City’s efforts to develop Washington Avenue into a complete street that balances the needs of all users.
